Moving WHMCS

Hi everyone

 

I currently have a leased WHMCS licence through my hosting provider. I have not had very good experiences with my host, but I love WHMCS and now that I have used it for a while, I don't want to lose it even though I really can't stay with my host any longer.

 

Is it possible for me to purchase my own licence, and transfer all my data across from my host's leased licence to my own licence? I can't really rely on my host for support with this - do I need their permission? What is the best way for me to get through the changeover with as little downtime as possible to my WHMCS system?

Good news friend, though the license is not yours the data certainly is. Just download a backup (more than one would be wise!) of your database and with that you can do business directly with WHMCS.

1) Make sure you are running the latest version

2) Purchase a license direct from WHMCS

3) Edit the configuration.php file and add your new license in there

4) Login to your admin area to activate the license
