weblantis
Hi, I am thinking about signing up for an owned licence rather than paying on a monthly basis. However I am not quite sure what is meant by "Valid for one installation". Does this mean: I can only install it on one server and no other server? Can only install it for one domain? both of the above Is there a whmcs link that gives more information about what this means?
0 GGWH-James
The software can only be active on one server at any one time. If you were to change domains, servers, etc. you would need to reissue your license in order for it to update with the current installation information. By doing so, any previous installations elsewhere would be come invalid and no longer validate.

I don't want to change domain but I might need to change my reseller web hosting provider (and hence servers) if their service starts to falter. If I was not allowed to move my whmcs licence to a new server then it would be a very costly move for me. Although I believe what you are saying is correct (and sensible), it would give me an extra piece of mind what you are saying is actually stated somewhere on the whmcs website. Thanks again for you help. Regards, Sher
0 laszlof
the owned license is identical to the monthly license except you do not pay a monthly fee. You pay one flat price. Moving to a new server is no problem, there is a "Reissue" button within the whmcs client area that you select once you've moved it and the installation will be allowed to carry over to a new location. Again, this is identical to the process for the monthly license.
0 Nexxterra
if you are concerned about the reseller package you use, have you considered installing the WHMCS on a server with a company you can trust then get your reseller account where you want, the WHMCS will set up your accounts remotely and you never have to worry about your customer data disappearing with your host. WHMCS is a billing interface, it sends info to your server, counts your money and tracks your clients. You can install it on a compatible hosting pkg and have peace of mind. WHMCS does not have to be installed on the same server as your clients accounts.
