Besides hosting/domains, can you use WHMCS for billing of services like graphic work, logo design, web development etc based on fixed prices or on hourly rates? If so, how would you go about doing this?

Nicola,

Adhoc billing based on hourly rates is not supported.

But as Adam mentioned you can create a product.

My suggested way is an adhoc invoice, since you don't want a bazillion custom products in your db.

Go to a client's profile, click the Invoices tab and then click Create Invoice :)

I have to say that the adhoc billing - works great!!! Simple and easy to do.

Alternatively - go to the "Summary" tab and click on the "Create Invoice" link in the "Actions" list on the right side of the page.

That is one reason why I chose this particular system. You can create invoices not related to web hosting or domain names for whatever you want.

The only thing I miss is the fact that you cannot do quantities and hourly billing. That would make it perfect, because then I could actually track what kind of sales I am doing for particular services.

But, as mentioned above, you can do free-form invoices and bill them for whatever you want.

This is something I'm interested in as well; I do a little design and script installations. I don't know if I understand the workflow: Somehow I have to capture the clients name/email/details and create a new client? Then I do the work and have WHMCS send the invoice? Couldn't the new client just use the WHMCS frontend to place their order?

As you can tell I'm a little confused about the flow. :(

@travor

Better to have the client register on your site & agree to your T&Cs first.

We put the product info on a separate page (showing the full price) with a direct order link to the product, that places an order which only charges a deposit (just an {if gid=product group} "show 'deposit' next to price" statement). The product cost is then just the deposit amount.

We have some alternatives as config or addons (depending on whether it is a yes/no or either a/b/c alternative.

Then we charge the final balance on completion as a custom invoice.

Works well for us.

Will this adhoc or free form invoicing allow for recurrent billing? Or is it limited to one time billing only?
