Knowledge base search box missing when logged in to client area...

I am very new to WHMCS and slowly finding my way round and looking to get my site up and running as soon as I can.

However, I was bemused to see that in my client area, when a customer is logged in, the search box for the knowledge base in the portal template sidebar disappears, (and looking around, I can see this is true on other WHMCS sites too).

Looking at the footer template, I can see that the reason for this is that the {/if} closing tag that ends the "{if} logged in show this, {else} that" routine, comes after the knowledge base search box, therefore making it only visible in the {else} condition... i.e when no-one is logged in.

I'm looking at shifting that {/if} closing tag higher up so that it comes after the login box </form> closing tag instead (i.e just before the <p> of the knowledge base search header), thereby showing the search box all the time to both logged in and non-logged in users.

Is there a reason not to do this? It seems like this might be a better way for it to default to in the portal template, in fact I did wonder if this was a bug! However, that seems unlikely to me, so I'm assuming it is "by design" for some reason... so assume that in my newbie-ness, I might be missing something obvious, that wiser mortals than me understand!

So anyone see good reasons for me to do this or not to do this?
