API help...

Recommended Posts

I'm finding the documentation rather hard to follow. Only having one example certainly doesn't help with the other available functions that are more complex.

Anyway, I'm trying to write an AJAX domain search function which is going fine but I am having some issues that I need help with.

How do I get the whois to work? There's a ton of useless info included so I'm guessing I have done this wrong. I have managed to find a domain that is taken but the whois shows as follows.

%3Cbr+%2F%3E%0AWhois+Server+Version+2.0%3Cbr+%2F%3E%0A%3Cbr+%2F%3E%0ADomain+names+in+the+.com+and+.net+domains+can+now+be+registered%3Cbr+%2F%3E%0Awith+many+different+competing+registrars.+Go+to+http%3A%2F%2Fwww.internic.net%3Cbr+%2F%3E%0Afor+detailed+information.%3Cbr+%2F%3E

I cut the full result short but as you can see, there is a lot of rubbish in there.

I'm simple echoing $results['whois']... if the API documentation was a little more thorough I might figure things out better. Is there any plans to further extend the documentation to help us?

Also I want to possibly try my hand at creating a full AJAX cart as well so I'm wondering how I can use the API for that or would I have to create my own SESSION based idea?

Thanks!

Having the same problem with API: Domain_WHOIS.

Have tried a few PHP functions to try and make sense of the extra characters with no luck.

Anyone at WHMCS who can explain what their WhoIS API call is doing?
