Onionman
Has the thought the code is needed by Maxmind in order for you to take advantage of the deal WHMCS has with them crossed your mind at all? How exactly is "promo=WHMCS4562" violating your privacy?
sgrayban
It's still a tracking code which must be disclosed by US Laws and at the very least WHMCS should be stating they track using non-identify information like everyone else has to.
Onionman
Its no more tracking as posting your e-mail address to paypal is to locate your account imo.... All the code does is identify you are using WHMCS, which anyone using your website already knows.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted May 9, 2010 WHMCS CEO Share Posted May 9, 2010 What does this hidden value do since I couldn't track it down in any other dumps I did... So you're admitting your original accusations were completely unfounded & false? Glad we cleared that up. I can confirm nothing is secretly transmitted back to us from WHMCS installations as you originally claimed. Only license checks call back to our server. What you've then posted to try and justify yourself is the PayPal BN tracking codes which they use for their own statistical information and that we don't have any access to and a MaxMind affiliate signup link in the admin side for the offer we provide of free checks and discounted rates - not tracking code.
