Configuration Options lost when price changed

I have a configuration option for several products that is a quantity.

Whenever I raised the price it seemed to set all of the quantity of existing products that customers had to 0. Whenever they went to Upgrade, it charged them the new price as well as saying they had a 0 quantity. So to upgrade from 10 to 20, was the cost of 20.

Is this common and is there a fix?
