smithster
I have looked through the documentation but it looks like the promotions section hasn't been updated to coinside with the latest release. I have upgraded to v 4.2 and I was excited to see that I can offer promotions based on what the customer purchases. My example is that I want to offer a promotion when a customer signs up for a vps. But to use the promotion, the customer must purchase one of the available addons. So I think I've set that up correctly in the promotion settings.... Promotion Code - **** Type - Percentage Recurring - Off as one time only Value - **** Cycles - Monthly Applies To - All VPS products selected Requires - Product Related addon selected I haven't done anything with the rest of the settings in there. Now, on the order form, I select a VPS product, I select the addon I know to be the required addon, I go to checkout, apply the promotion code, and it tells me The promotion code you entered has been applied to your cart but no items qualify for the discount yet - please check the promotion terms Maybe I have misunderstood the way this works? Can someone shed some light on this as I'd love to use this promotion code in the way I've described. Many thanks in advance Regards Paul
smithster
Can't edit so have had to reply! I have since figured out that the promotion code setup as above doesn't seem to work with product addons. I created the addon under a seperate product group and assigned the "requires" section of the promotion to the newly created product and it works! This in my opinion isn't a great way to go about it though. We need one of the following 2 scenarios to allow for this promotion to work. 1) Not only Product Addons, but also other product groups should be allowed to be offered as an addon to a product. 2) Promotion codes should be allowed to work with Product Addons especially as they are listed in the "Requires" field. Maybe it's a bug! If I am going about this all wrong, please correct me as I still would like to get this working and made easy for the customer. Thanks in advance Regards Paul
