epicconstruct
I'm comparing registrars and trying to decide which one I want to use for integrating with WHMCS. I have an account with both Reseller Club and Enom, and I've done some searches through the forums and found some useful information scattered here and there, but I was wondering what else I could glean from a new thread and those experienced in the WHMCS trenches. Hopefully this thread can be a useful information packed thread for others in the future. That said, here's what I'm looking for: Some registrar reseller accounts are better for certain things, which one is best for the sole purpose of integrating with WHMCS? Does the registrar you recommend have, or not have certain WHMCS features available that are useful or frustrating accordingly? How is the company to work with? Are their management tools easy to work with? How is their support? If you've used more then one, comparisons are helpful. If you make a recommendation, please offer a reason why. Thanks in advance!
epicconstruct
To start things off, here are my observations: I've used both eNom and Reseller Club. I have mixed feelings on both. I found the eNom is easier to use, the interface is simpler then Reseller Club's. I still find myself clicking around quite a bit for Reseller Club before getting what I need done, whereas Enom is pretty straightforward and easy to use. Reseller Club's site is really heavy on pushing their own integration services, which are not helpful to me as I'm using WHMCS. It sounds like eNom is the only one where WHMCS can automate SSL sales/provisioning. I haven't tried this myself. This information is from this thread. I haven't tried tech support for Reseller Club, but I haven't been impressed with support at eNom. My account is a resold account from HostGator, and I'm supposed to contact them first, but this is awkward as I canceled the associated hosting when I outgrew reseller hosting. Reseller Club seems to be cheaper to get into then eNom. Their slab pricing doesn't seem to be as heavy, whereas eNom needs some pretty large deposits to get discounted pricing unless you sign on with a resold account. (WHMCS offers sub accounts for both.) When one of my clients didn't pay for their domain on time it expired through eNom. They wanted it back, but it never seemed to hit the market again. Someone has been squatting it since and is using privacy protection. It's not a high profile or useful domain to anybody but my client, and I haven't gotten any response from the privacy protected email address. I'm not sure if this is attributable to eNom or not, and I'm not sure if I should expect the same to happen with other registrars as well. But it did leave a bad taste in my mouth nonetheless. That all said, at this point I'm leaning towards using my eNom account as my primary WHMCS registrar based on their site's ease of use and the full featuredness of the associated WHMCS modules.
