Well i was searching around the internet and found something amazing.

Windows live braught out there own version of Google Apps custom email just over a year ago, so i thought i would give it a go. Well to my suprise and happieness it works amazingly with WHMCS.

So i thought i would shair with you how to get yours set up.

First Windows Live Admin Center is just like google apps but Microsofted. It workes realy nice and is even easyer and faster to setup than Google Apps. Only needing the one MX record and the spf trust record.

one bonus of this is also you can have up to 500 emails and on request you can have more all free.

ok so first go to

http://admincenter.live.com

and register for an account, make sure you tick

"Set up Windows Live Hotmail for my domain"

and then follow the instructions given to you once registered.

I will sugest downloading there desktop admin tool from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ae5208c2-6800-4eb8-b87d-5c1b25665cb4&DisplayLang=en

which will allow you to manage email accounts from your desktop instead of logging into the website every time.

Ok so once the domain is verified creat all your email accounts. remeber to setup one account to use as your SMTP of use your primary account its up to you.

Log into each email to verify it.

Once you have finished creating your accounts go to WHMCS-directory/admin -->setup-->General Settings--> Mail

Mail Type - SMTP

SMTP Port - 587 (make sure this isn't blocked on your server/firewall)

SMTP Host - smtp.live.com

SMTP Username: The email you will use for outgoing emails (ie. main@example.com, info@example.com)

SMTP Password: your_strong_password

(Note: with windows Live Admin center your emails will be sent from the respective departments and not "on behlaf of" like google apps does)

ok now creat your departments in setup-->Support Departments

Creat each department you have made an email for and use the following settings for pop import

hostname: pop3.live.com

port: 995

user: youremail@yourdomain.com

pwd: yourpassw0rd

Setup your cron job using "*/5 * * * * php -q /home/username/public_html/whmcs/pipe/pop.php" Change from 5 mins if you feel you need to.

Once you have done this you should be ready to go.

Anyway thought i would shair.

Anthony
