rbro
Is this possible in whmcs currently? How to do it? Either by the client and/or admin. Needs to be either an invoice or credit generated. This is a big one......
DataHosts
To my knowledge it is not possible to upgrade a plan or downgrade. Reason is because of paypal subscriptions. The client would need to order the package, cancel current subscription, and contact you for this. I could be wrong...but this is what I have read somewhere on the forum.

joe123
Just change the account package and it will change to the new price automatically , then you have to calculate and send the client a new invoice on the difference or add credit to his account. and if its a subscription package , the client has to cancel his old subscription and as far as i remember whmcs creates a new button on the client area for the client to recreate the subscription.

Does it go out to the cpanel server and make the changes there as well, or does that also need to be done manually?
DataHosts
Does it go out to the cpanel server and make the changes there as well, or does that also need to be done manually? I would say you have to do this manually. WHMCS does not have anything to do with setup of packages, but only the relationship to the package to create the physical account.
rbro
WHMCS does not have anything to do with setup of packages, but only the relationship to the package to create the physical account. I don't understand what this means. Packages that are ordered by a customer can be automatically setup on the cpanel server, so whmcs does have something to do with "setup of packages". I'm not understanding what "relationship to the package to create the physical account" means. Can you elaborate?
DataHosts
sorry for the confusion. I was stating that WHMCS is setup to create the account based on packages at the start of the clients term with your company. I do not believe that WHMCS has it built into the system to update the server plan if the client updates the plan via WHMCS. I could be wrong about this, and I do hope I am. However, my clients are 97% dedicated, so, I do not use the this type of feature. Sorry, but again I hope i am wrong. Matt will be able to clear this up.

There is other "communication" between whmcs and the server, beyond just account creation at the time of ordering. Accounts can be suspended and deleted from whmcs, right? I'm assuming modifications of quotas and such get passed to the server as well, so it would certainly seem feasible that an upgrade or downgrade or change of plan could get passed as well, but once again, let's hear it from someone who knows for sure.
ozzie
Matt will be able to clear this up. Unfortunately he has been un-customary quiet on this issue. Matt: Very very please Ozzie
DataHosts
Matt has answer similiar here Just to have in this topic as well: All you have to do currently is change the users package and if it's an upgrade generate an invoice for the difference and if it's a downgrade, add a credit to the clients account. There are plans for an automated upgrade/downgrade in a future release.
