  1. I said precisely what you quoted above. I can't tell if you're trying to troll, or just being dumb. I don't believe I asked for any support. I'm sorry, but the facts don't agree with you. I haven't demanded anything.. I said I "emplore" [sic - should've been an i] WHMCS to open their source. According to define: in google, the word means "To beg for, to entreat urgently or earnestly". I'm quite confident that scholars of the English language don't consider begging to be anything like demanding, in fact quite the opposite. While we're on the subject, I'd implore you to get the details right next time you have something to say to me. I don't know the author and I don't believe I said anything about him. Again, you're messing up the details. You missed the part where I mentioned that the API is incomplete. API only has some functions, only some files have source.
  2. Yep.. that's clearly what I said .......not. Many of them are, yes. This business lives and dies by software writing; those who don't write it are at the mercy of those who do. I have, and I continue to (why else might I want a fully functional API?). Though I do have to make money whilst writing and perfecting my code, hence the usefulness of WHMCS.
  3. It's a kiddie app because it lacks a lot of functionality that grown folks might use (API functions for every operation, properly implemented remote order forms, etc).
  4. If there is, I haven't yet found it. I was messing with Parallels Billing 6.0.3 last night - blatantly broken and much worse than WHMCS. They charge you for support, and don't pay enough attention to actual bugs (I encountered so many that I couldn't even test the application). The jury is out on ClientExec also; they look like another kiddie app with a limited API. As I can't see that any serious development has happened there, I'm not even going to mess with it. My perspective is that of a developer who knows how simple some of this stuff is to accomplish, hence the modicum of frustration. I emplore you guys (WHMCS) to double-down on your commitment to making money, by opening your code and bolstering the ability of third-party developers to do what they do. You never know who will start emailing you high quality code diffs that are ready to import straight into your RCS and roll out to the public.
  5. I share your pain. They simply need to open the source to their customers, perhaps following the model of Kayako (everything is open to owned license holders, except the licensing code). WHMCS also needs to embrace third-party developers better if they want to be taken seriously.. because right now, WHMCS looks to me like a kiddie application that hasn't yet grown up enough.
  6. Thanks for the reply.. you're a bit more rational than I am I'm just a bit frustrated with the state of software in the hosting industry. I try to do (what seem like) the simplest things, and I frequently get shut down by little or no feature implementation, and little or no documentation. This is a prime example... another would be the fact that I can't embed a WHMCS order form in my website using the api as I don't know how, Kayako is no better as nor can I with Kayako ticket entry. Such a shame. You would think that with as many years as control panels, billing packages, and ticketing systems have existed.. the software would've kept pace with the demand for features. And it's not like you people (hosting software companies) don't charge enough money. How much Kayako product do I own, perhaps $350? How much is an owned license of WHMCS - $300 or so if I recall correctly. If anything, the joke's on me for feeding money to a segment of the industry that does not yet deserve it.
  7. When creating a new product, the product I just made lists all of the configurable option groups which are defined system-wide when I click into the Configurable Options tab. It is extremely unclear according to the documentation, and without playing around with it, as to how you enable and disable the various options. I did manage to figure it out, but not before making me question why it is that I'm giving you people my money. It sure would be nice if you guys would 1) make everything (not just this particular feature) unambiguous and easy to understand, 2) document it better if you can't make it unambiguous (I know you can - Modernbill has a dialog that works perfectly in these situations), and 3) convince me that you're not another WHT kiddie operation, unworthy of a modicum of my time.
