Hello everyone.
I am new to WHMCS and am in the process of setting it up having moved from a propriety system.
I have successfully imported clients and products from WHM using the cPanel/WHM Import Script. When I view a client profile in WHMCS I can see their products and domains but there are no related orders. The order number for all imported products is 0 - obviously because the auto-import script did not create any orders.
So I am unclear about how products and orders relate to each other and whether every product requires an accompanying order (particularly in the case of auto renewing products).
So my questions are:
1) Does each product/domain require an order to accompany it?
2) If yes, then what is the best way to accomplish this? I can't seem to add an order to an existing product. It seems I would have to manually create an order for each product but that pretty much defeats the purpose of the auto-import as I will have to go through each client and add everything manually.
3) Will a product or domain auto-renew successfully if there is no initial order (assuming the renewal date is set correctly on the Products tab)?
Sorry for asking such a basic question I just can't seem to find any exact info on this and the process of manual client entry (described here http://docs.whmcs.com/Importing_Data) does involve creating an order first before adding products.
Any info much appreciated!
