Cannot receive any new emails after upgrading to PHP 7.4

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Two days ago. I upgrade the php of my site from 7.3 to 7.4.

One day ago. When I try to visit WHMCS login page, I get "IonCube loader not installed" error. Since IonCube loader only has stable release for php 7.3, I downgrade php from 7.4 to 7.3. Then I can visit WHMCS page again.

However, I notice that since two days ago, my WHMCS cannot receive any new incoming emails any more. I try to send a test email to one of the support departments in WHMCS. But the email is not received, neither it is bounced back. It seems that the email is absorbed.

Below are the settings for WHMCS:

Cron job: /opt/cpanel/ea-php73/root/usr/bin/php -q /home/alanccw/whmcs/crons/cron.php
Email Forward: Address: support@example.com    Forward To: |/home/alanccw/whmcs/crons/pipe.php

Please help. THanks

The problem is solved by:

1. Set system default php version back to 7.3

2. Use

 |/opt/cpanel/ea-php73/root/usr/bin/php -q /home/alanccw/whmcs/crons/pipe.php

for pipe.

Thanks

as a general rule, it's usually easier not to try and use the latest PHP version with WHMCS.

Thanks for your post @alanccw presently, PHP 7.4 is not supported by WHMCS

  • WHMCS 7.0-7.4 supports PHP 5.6 and 7.0
  • WHMCS 7.5 and later supports PHP 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, and 7.2
  • WHMCS 7.6 and above currently supports PHP 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3

Support for PHP 7.4 is planned but is not yet availible
