there's no need to do that - in fact, you should never edit the dist.whois.json as you can create a whois.json custom file in the same folder and the update won't touch that file.

you should just test those TLDs after an update to ensure that they still work... if they don't, then check to see if an updated entry has been added in the dist.whois.json file.

with the custom file do i name it "whois.json" or i can name is lets say "gh.whois.json".

Also do i have to duplicate the extensions of "dist.whois.json" to custom file or i just have to list in there the only custom extensions  i would like to add.

it has to be whois.json, otherwise WHMCS won't use it.

you only need to list any custom extensions in that file - so you're Ghanaian entry and any in the main dist.whois.json file that you later find are out of date.

Any suggestions here?

i'd ideally like to have seen the whois,json file that you created, but using the following is working for me....

[
    {
        "extensions": ".gh,.com.gh,.org.gh,.edu.gh",
        "uri": "http://www.nic.gh/whois.php?domain=",
        "available": "No Object Found"
    }
]

possibly your port43 whois.nic,gh from your screenshot might work for you, but it didn't work for me - however, using the whois form on their website in WHMCS does seem to work.

I realized port43whois.nic.gh seems to somehow stopped working so i changed to their whois form just like you did and it works fine now.

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

I am Jacob

Trust you are all doing fine.

May I please get help. I created a new whois.json inside the domais folder under resources with the following

[
    {
        "extensions": ".co.mz,.org.mz,.net.mz,.ac.mz",
        "uri": "https://whois.nic.mz/",
        "available": "No match"
    }
]

but when i go to my site the domains i want to add still say unavailable.

Please any suggestions

Hi Jacob,

the above website redirects to https://whois.nic.mz/whois.jsp - which now contains a captcha form... therefore, WHMCS will not be able to use it as a source for lookups (because it can't answer the captcha question).

the registry also doesn't seem to have a port 43 option (which would be WHMCS' preference to use) - so unless you can find another source for .mz whois lookups that WHMCS can use, you won't be able to provide your users with accurate .mz searches.
