MaxMind v2 - Share Your Experience

Recommended Posts

Hi testers!

In WHMCS 7.6 Beta 1 we have updated the Maxmind module to use the minfraud v2 API. During the pre-release testing we want to hear about your experiences with this feature.

Some potential starting points for discussion are:

  • What was your experience with checks on orders immediately after updating?
  • Was the process of configuring the module straight-forward?
  • Does the information displayed on the new style reports meet your needs?
  • Are there any situations where Maxmind checks did not result in the expected action?

In addition to resolving any errors which might occur, understanding any pain points is of particular interest to us. Your input will help us tweak messaging in the product or documentation and publish support articles.

Thanks for your help in the pre-release testing!

Hi John, I can tell you now already, that maxmind marked 2 very, very valid orders (the only 2 orders for that day) as fraud, I was able to override manually, and I deactivated maxmind.

Hi @Openhost,

Thanks for sharing your feedback regarding the mindfraud v2 service.

Can you let me know what your Setup > Fraud Protection > Maxmind > MaxMind Fraud Risk Score was set as?

Was the fraud score assigned to the orders by Maxmind above or below aforementioned the Risk Score value?

Hi @Openhost,

The default Fraud Risk Score value is 0, and the lowest score Maxmind will assign in 0.01. So in effect your current settings are configured to block every order.

Therefore it sounds like WHMCS is behaving in accordance with your configuration, which is reassuring.

I've updated the documentation to provide more information on configuring the Fraud Risk Score setting: https://docs.whmcs.com/MaxMind#MaxMind_Fraud_Risk_Score

I hope that's helpful, thanks for your feedback!
