Moving from one subdomain to another

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This question may be a very simple or could be tough, but I wanted to ask here anyways instead of opening another ticket just for an answer.  I have been spending every day to get my site all set up and ready. But now I decided that the give domain is not useful.

I want to move my WHMCS installation from one subdomain to another, but I am not really sure what all needs to come in consideration to change configuration for different subdomain.

For example, my current installation is on:

http://webhost.domain.com/

I would like to move it to something like:

http://clientarea.domain.com/

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi @CalProz.com,

This process is really easy. Simply move all of your files, edit configuration.php to reflect any changes to custom paths or database details and then follow these instructions to reissue your license for the new location:

https://docs.whmcs.com/Licensing#Moving_WHMCS

Once you've done that, log in to your new location, head to Setup >> General Settings and update your WHMCS System URL. Save the changes and you're good to go!

If you run in to any problems, come back and we'll be happy to help.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your response. I actually did it a little differently since I was just getting my database designed and not the site itself yet. I just downloaded my database sql file, uploaded to new one and aet it up with a user. Once I did that I downloaded a fresh copy of 751 whmcs version. Went through installation, gave it existing database and username and it looked at it as an upgraded. Took all the info in and there, BOOM! I got it moved. But what you recommended is also very good to know. Thank you for that. :)

Sincerely,

CalProz
